Premature Relief Project and Loving Care Base Set Up in Shanghai Children’s Hospital

Tan Jing serves as an ambassador to the project of Safety for Mothers and Infants

 

On the afternoon of September 18, 2016, the launching ceremony of Premature Relief Project and Loving Care Base, jointly established by the SSCLF’s Special Fund of Safety for Mothers and Infants and Shanghai Children’s Hospital was held at Shanghai Children’s Hospital at Luding Rd., Shanghai. Tan Jing, national first class actress and famous singer, attended the ceremony and was invited to serve as an ambassador to the project of Safety for Mothers and Infants.

 

According to the introduction by Shanghai Children’s Hospital, the hospital receives nearly 1,000 cases of preterm infants per year, among which the treatment for about 50 preterm infants are given up by their parents because of financial difficulties. Premature Relief Project aims to provide assistance for the preterm infants of the urban vulnerable groups. It is reported that little patients with families’ economic difficulties can get subsidize not higher than 20,000 yuan while severely ill preterm infants can get subsidize not higher than 50,000 yuan.

 

The Fund of Safety for Mothers and Infants is a special fund established in 2001 by SSCLF. With "Safety for Mothers and Health for Children" as its theme, the Fund has raised a total of nearly 80 million yuan for the past ten years so as to help hundreds of thousands of babies safely born in more than 20 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. The project of safety for mothers and infants is known as “Popular Project” by the people in poverty- stricken areas in western China.

 

Specific procedures are as follows: After children hospital’s assessment of disease severity and confirmation of families’ economic difficulties, families can apply for subsidize to the hospital social work department. The social work department assists applicants fill in the forms and report them to higher body. After examination and approval by the project department of the Fund, the applicant families will receive subsidize.
