BEA Firefly Project
In order to promote children's education in rural areas, the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Bank of East Asia jointly set up the "SSCLF- BEA Public Welfare Fund" in 2009. Since then the Fund has sponsored and promoted many public welfare activities.

In order to promote children's education in rural areas, the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Bank of East Asia jointly set up the "SSCLF- BEA Public Welfare Fund" in 2009. Since then the Fund has sponsored and promoted many public welfare activities. Thanks to the efforts of its employees, individual and corporate clients, it has been raising money by making use of Internet banking, credit cards, SMS, telephone banking and sponsoring charity auctions.
The main initiatives of this Fund are:
• Carrying out the “Firefly Project” to promote rural education
• Setting up college grant program for needy and outstanding students
• Setting up charitable book stacks in rural areas
