20 households of the Chuzhou Tianchang Paddy Rice Project in Anhui Province took up the baton to start Phase 2 of SSCLF’s Farmer Entrepreneurship Relay Baton Project. Such achievements cannot be separated from the follow-up, inspection and contribution of Ping’an volunteer, General Manager Li Wei and his team, as well as the support and recommendation of the Agricultural Committee! Phase 1 has witnessed the income of project households increasing by 50% with their livelihoods improved, and project director Xuan Youlin will continue to lead the project households of Phase 2 in indica rice cultivation. Southeast Guizhou Tea Garden Chicken Raising Project Director: Hou Zhenghong

The 20 project households mainly worked on raising chicks this quarter, with 20,000 nine-month-old Luhua chickens growing well, weighing up to 1.75 kg and having entered egg production. The cooperative organized training on farming techniques and safety management for the project households.

The main tasks of the project households this quarter included soil preparation in April, seedling cultivation in May and rice planting in June. On April 26, the cooperative provided training on green farming techniques to the project households.

The main work of the 10 project households this quarter was water spraying, moisturizing, mushroom harvesting, among others. The mushroom management period has already been over, while the new-year mushroom stick production has been started. Mushroom production reached 0.65 kg / stick per household, with a wholesale price of 10.2 yuan / kg. Predictably there will be an increase in the number of sticks produced in the next quarter compared to that of the previous year, with an increase of about 3,000 sticks per household.

Anhui Guangde Rice Project Director: Lu Shiping

The main tasks for the 10 project households this quarter included field preparation, rice sowing, rice seedling breeding, machine transplanting, seedling fertilization, and wheat and oilseed rape harvesting by harvesters. In May, the cooperative organized a number of activities for the project households, such as seed selection, rice planting, rice transplanter operation and drone crop protection, to solve some of the problems encountered in seed selection and seedling planting.

The main work of the 30 project households in Phase 2 this quarter was to pound field, plant rice seedlings and pick peaches. Rice planting is at the stage of ploughing and transplanting, and project households are starting early peach picking.

The main work of the project households this quarter was the production management, harvesting and marketing of water bamboo. On June 18, the cooperative invited Professor Zhang Qi’an, Yan Cong Sheng, Fang Ling and Yu Feifei, researchers from the vegetable department of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, to the base of the project households for training on water bamboo harvesting.

The 22 project households in Phase 2 were mainly working on tea picking, tea tree pruning, and training this quarter. The cooperative organized project households to participate in the 14th Anhui International Tea Industry Expo in June, 2021.

Hubei Wuhan Honey Project Director: He Dehua

The main work of 21 project households this quarter was to go to the Baoji, Sanmenxia and Gansu to collect locust honey and wolfberry honey. The locust honey harvest was slightly higher than in previous years with good sales. This quarter project households focused on honey gathering based on the florescence, and held free online learning and training events on Taobao live streaming and internet marketing.

The main work of the project households this quarter was honey bee breeding, pest control, and honey bee honey harvesting management. The second quarter was the breeding period for bees, and the project households have accumulated 800 new colonies and harvested 5 tons of honey.

This quarter project households mainly worked on seedling care, pruning, hand pollination, and watermelon picking and selling. The first crop of summer melon yielded more than 900 kg / mu, with a unit sales price of 3.2-3.6 yuan / kg.
